A CELEBRATION of Bowie’s music and legacy is being brought to Bournemouth by its cast of locals.

Direct from London’s West End, Bowie Experience is at the Bournemouth Pavilion next month in what is set to be a highlight of the touring tribute.

The latest production features all the hits from A to Ziggy to bring the golden years of Bowie to the stage.

Starring a Bournemouth band, with Oliver Slee as Bowie, the cast are determined to bring an extra-special show to the pavilion.

Oliver told the Daily Echo: “A lot of us have played at that venue in various other shows over the years.

“And growing up in the area, and going to see shows as a kid there, it will be very special to be on stage there.

“Hometown crowds are always great. As soon as they realise we’re local, they always get behind us, so it’s a really special place to come and perform.”

To mark the occasion, the band will be joined by special guest John Wines – a New Forest guitar teacher who made headlines after reaching the semi-finals of America’s Got Talent.

Known as the Old Grey Guitarist, John’s musical talent has also seen him gather more than 1.4 million followers on TikTok.

Oliver said: “He’s a friend of the show. The plan is to have him perform a couple of songs in the second half as a special guest for the hometown show.”

Former Bournemouth School student Oliver joined the cast of Bowie Experience in July 2021.

On what can be expected from the production, Oliver said: “It’s a celebration of David Bowie and his music and legacy.

“There’s something for everyone whether you’re a diehard Bowie fan, or are coming with a diehard fan, and haven’t been exposed to his music.

“A lot of people have said they end up leaving as an even bigger Bowie fan.

“It’s a big party, and a great night out.”

Bowie Experience is coming to the Bournemouth Pavilion on May 4.

Tickets are available on the Bournemouth Pavilion website.
