A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of rape after a woman reported being sexually assaulted in a Bournemouth public garden.
Skerryvore Gardens in Westbourne was closed to the public and canvassed by forensics over the weekend.
Dorset Police received a report that a woman aged in her 30s had been raped in Bournemouth.
A spokesperson for the county force said: “The incident is reported to have occurred between 9.30pm on Friday 12 April and 2am on Saturday 13 April 2024 in Skerryvore Gardens in Alum Chine Road.
“A full investigation was launched, led by detectives from BCP CID, and following detailed enquiries a man aged in his 40s from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and there will be an increased police presence in the area as these continue.
“Officers can be approached by members of the public with any information or concerns.”
