THREE people have now been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a man in Bournemouth town centre. 

A man in his 60s who was living in the Russell Court Hotel in the days before an ‘assault’ was found unconscious in Hinton Road on July 20, 2023. 

He was taken to hospital with a number of different injuries, including one to the head, but died four days later. 

Police officers and forensic investigators carried out examinations and enquiries in Hinton Road and Westover Road, at a car park entrance at Bath Hill Roundabout.

Bournemouth Echo:

Three people, including a 23-year-old woman and two 39-year-old men – all from Bournemouth – were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. 

Nine months later and after numerous enquiries by the Echo, the three people have all been re-arrested on suspicion of murder. 

All three have been released on police bail as the major crime investigation team establishes the circumstances.  

A spokeswoman from Dorset Police told the Echo: “An investigation is continuing, led by detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death, which is still being treated as unexplained. 

“Following additional enquiries and to allow officers to further interview the woman and two men who were previously arrested, they have since been re-arrested on suspicion of murder.  

“All three have been released on police bail as the investigation continues to establish the cause of death.”

An initial post-mortem examination was carried out on Wednesday, July 26 where his cause of death was ruled as ‘unexplained’. 

Detective inspector Mark Jenkins, of the major crime investi9gation team, said in the summer extensive investigation work was carried out. 

He added: “We believe that the man who sadly died had previously stayed at the Russell Court Hotel in Bath Road between Wednesday 12 July and Wednesday 19 July 2023 and I would encourage any guests staying at the hotel between these dates to please get in touch if they saw anything unusual or suspicious.”
