TWO people have been taken into custody after police officers caught them two minutes apart.

The officers were patrolling Poole town centre on Thursday, April 25 and found a man who they believed had been shoplifting.

Earlier, CCTV operators had told the officers over radio about the incidents and gave a description.

The man who was stopped matched the description and he was detained and interviewed on the street while being recorded by the officers’ body cameras.

Poole police’s officer said the detained man is now “assisting with their enquiries”, adding it was a “good result as this individual is a priority offender for the Poole neighbourhood policing team who are working hard to solidify a longer-term solution”.

Just two minutes after this and 100 minutes down the road in Old Orchard PC Ash and PC Beck found a wanted man and detained him.

According to the officers, he was wanted for attempted burglary and was taken to the police station to again assist with enquiries.

Poole police’s spokesman said: “Poole NPT are dedicated to keeping the local community safe, reducing crime/antisocial behaviour and increasing public confidence.

“If you see any of us out and about on patrol, stop and have a chat.

“Key hotspot areas of ASB are identified using intelligence and reports from the public, which are discussed at our daily team briefings.

“The more reports and concerns we hear regarding issues at locations, the more resources we can allocate. This is why it's essential that ASB is reported to us via the appropriate channels or events.”
