THE team behind The Montagu Arms Hotel and Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa has announced the promotion of David Kubler to group sommelier across the New Forest estate.

David, who joined the team at the Montagu Arms in 2012, has a notable background in some of the world’s leading restaurants, having previously worked as a sommelier at Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck and The Mandarin Grill & Bar in Hong Kong.

He draws on his experience from top establishments to enhance and create unique food and wine matching for residents and diners alike.

Now, with the announcement of his promotion to group sommelier, David has the opportunity to share his wealth of knowledge with The Montagu Arms’ sister hotel, Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa.

He will be responsible for creating and maintaining an outstanding wine experience at both The Manor restaurant and SenSpa’s authentic Thai Zen Garden restaurant whilst also supporting Richard Naulleau, restaurant manager of the hotel’s popular Parisian bistro – Le Blaireau.

Wine enthusiasts will be able to join David in sampling the wine of the month and learning about the optimum pairings in his in-depth wine tasting sessions.

James Hiley-Jones, operations director at the Montagu Arms Hotel and Careys Manor Hotel, said: “David is and has been an invaluable member of our team since joining. His outstanding knowledge of wines from around the world and his ability to share and express his experience with both the guests and the staff alike is hugely respected within the hotel and local area.

“Drawing on his previous employment in such prestigious establishments, David has been able to further enhance the dining experience at our Michelin starred restaurant, The Terrace. With his move to group sommelier, he will now be able to share his expert abilities, skills, knowledge and experience with our sister hotel and the team involved.”
