A RETIRED aircraft engineer died after suffering from one type of cancer in his left lung and a different type in his right lung.
Maurice Honey. who was 87, died at the Oakdene Nursing and Residential Home in Three Legged Cross on May 6.
An inquest into his death was opened at the coroner's court in Bournemouth on Thursday. It was heard that Mr Honey was diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2018.
He had mesothelioma, which is usually linked to asbestos exposure, in his left lung, and an unrelated lung cancer in his right.
It was heard that Mr Honey used to work at airports in London. He also had fitted an asbestos shed at his home some years ago.
A cause of death was given as mesothelioma and lung cancer.
A full inquest into his death will take place in January next year.
