A SECONDARY school in Christchurch has confirmed a single case of Covid-19.

Twynham School said the case involving a student has occurred in a year 10 class bubble.

In a letter sent to parents on October 29, the school said: “The affected student has not attended school since 22nd October and all close contacts who are required to isolate have been informed.

“We have engaged with Public Health England and Public Health Dorset and we are working closely with them, including following their procedures and advice to identify specific risks and manage this situation. We will continue to monitor and review this situation.”

The school added: “Due to the extensive measures that we already implemented upon re-opening the school, including the strict use of seating plans, the only additional measure is for a further group of close contacts to self-isolate for 14 days. As reported nationally, there has been a sharp increase of cases, and we are confident that we can respond effectively to any further potential confirmed cases in the coming weeks and months.”
