STEVE Cook believes the downpours during Wednesday night's win over Bristol City helped Cherries to victory.

Regular short, sharp showers soaked the players and the pitch at various points throughout the Championship contest, which Cherries won 1-0 thanks to Arnaut Danjuma's late winner.

And captain Cook says it helped their passing game.

"The pitch is fantastic and when the rain came down it made it nice and slick so I thought we knocked the ball around really nicely in the second half, with a lot of intent," he told afcbTV.

"It was strange, we had maybe four seasons in one night, but you kind of forget that we're approaching November.

"We've only played eight games and usually you're quite a few in now.

"This sounds a bit silly but I think when it rains, it suits us.

"We can move the ball around nicely and we've got technically very good players, very fast players so it suited us and we're often quite good under the lights as well so it was a nice performance."

Cook added: "A 1-0 win at home is a defender's dream result.

"Thankfully we've got the three points because it's been frustrating with the draws, and we're still unbeaten so we're delighted."
